White wasn’t always the way when it came to wedding dresses. Back in the 50’s women wore jewel coloured dressed – think sapphire blue, emerald green, and amethyst purple. The length was often knee or mid length as well.
The last 75 years as seen the trend of long princess dresses in ivory totally take over the market, but if an ivory toned cinderella dress isn’t your style buck this trend and opt for something bright in a more unique cut.
However, if Cinderella totally IS your style then why not go full Disney with a theme wedding?
There are all kinds of themes engaged couples opt for. Don’t get frightened by the idea, it doesn’t need to be tacky to have a theme, focus on little details that will resonate the theme while still highlighting the personal styles of you and your partner.
Some popular themes are Disney, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and superheroes.
Hey, we know you’re all thinking it. Sometimes the best way to reflect the style of you and your partner, uninterrupted and unfiltered, is to cut everyone else out and just go get it done. Eloping doesn’t mean that you can’t have a photographer, or buy a nice outfit, all it is is simplifying a day that is supposed to be all about the two of you down to the most basic form.
If you do decide to elope, there are still some details to think about. Where do you want to do it, what will you wear, would you like to have a photographer, and how will you notify everyone. The last one is really important. If your immediate family are not invited, it would be a nice gesture to let them know ahead of time that you are planning to elope. This will negate any negative feelings toward what should be only a very happy time for everyone.
